Using WunderFixx
USES:
WunderFixx can be used for patching and detailing on tilt-up panels, pre-cast concrete, concrete block, and other concrete surfaces. It is suitable for moist environments on interior and exterior projects.
COMPOSITION:
WunderFixx is composed of premium grade hydraulic cement, calcium carbonate and high performance water-soluble polymers.
COLOR: [Grey]
The final color of WunderFixx and other cementitious materials may vary due to application techniques and environmental conditions.
LIMITATIONS:
Not intended for patches over ½” deep, for deeper sections use Rapid Set Cement-All or Rapid Set Mortar Mix.
TECHNICAL DATA:
- Material shall contain no less than 4.0% calcium sulphoaluminate.
- Material shall achieve no less than the following strengths at listed age:
- (ASTM C109 Mod.)
- Age: Compressive Strength:
- 24 hrs. 1000 psi
- 28 days (max water) 1500 psi
Gradation Requirements:
- Sieve Size: Max Percent Retained:
- 100 2.0%
- 200 4.0%
- 270 8.0%
Set Times (ASTM C191 vicat):
- Initial Set 1-hr (minimum)
- Final Set 4-hr (maximum)
SURFACE PREPARATION:
Remove all loose, unsound and contaminated concrete from the area to be patched. Concrete should be free of materials that will interfere with bonding such as dirt, oil, paint, form release, sealers or any material that inhibits bonding. The concrete bonding surface should be dry at time of application. In some environmental conditions pre-wetting of surface may become necessary.
MIXING:
WunderFixx can be mixed to a smooth, trowelable consistency by hand or mechanical mixer. Add the measured amount of clean potable water to the mixing bucket and then slowly add the dry WunderFixx. Mix to a uniform, lump free consistency. Be sure to clean the mixing bucket and tools between batches. Do NOT re-temper.
PLACEMENT:
Apply WunderFixx in one pass in thicknesses from feather-edge to ½”. Avoid retroweling. Once in place, as the material becomes stiff, (typically within 10-20 minutes) use a trowel to shave or cut the excess material to the desired shape. Note: Generally, the process of dusting is unnecessary, WunderFixx hardens quickly. Material can be painted after it is dry.
TEMPERATURE:
Warm environmental and materials temperatures will reduce the working time of WunderFixx. To compensate for warm temperatures, keep material cool and use chilled mix water. Temperatures below 70ºF (21ºC) will decrease the rate of strength gain and WunderFixx should not be applied if surface or ambient temperature is below 45ºF (7.2ºC).
CAUTION:
WunderFixx contains cement-itious materials and may cause irritation to lungs, eyes and skin. Avoid contact. Use only in adequate ventilation. Do NOT breath dust. Wet mixture may cause burns. Wear suitable gloves, eye protection and protective clothing. In case of skin contact, wash thoroughly with soap and water. In case of eye contact, flush immediately and repeatedly with large quantities of water and get prompt medical attention. In case of difficulty breathing, remove person to fresh air. If difficulty breathing persists, seek medical attention.
